PLASTIC HEALTH COUNCIL

Through 2023 and 2024,190 member states will be meeting to negotiate a world first – the United Nations Global Plastics Treaty.  This Treaty will be legally binding, will consider the true full life cycle of plastic and, very importantly, will address plastic’s impact on human health.

After collaborating on two highly successful Plastic Health Summits in Amsterdam, A Plastic Planet and the Plastic Soup Foundation are coming together to create the Plastic Health Council.  This Council has a very focused goal – to ensure the UN Treaty process and every negotiating member state is fully aware of the known science on the human health impact of micro, nano-plastics and the chemicals within plastic.

16,000 chemicals are used to give plastic its extraordinary qualities; only 50% of them have been tested for human health safety. This is a chemical disaster that is compounding up, impacting our children greatly. The Plastic Health Council supports the global expert scientists, giving them a world stage to ensure the known well-researched facts are no longer ignored.
