ON 8 NOVEMBER, WE LAUNCHED A NEW LOOK AT A PROMINENT LONDON SUPERMARKET SHOWING THE WORLD HOW TO CUT OUT PLASTIC

1 LONDON SUPERMARKET
10 WEEKS
1800 PRODUCTS

Working in partnership with APP, Thornton’s budgens took almost 2000 of their product lines into plastic free packaging. And it is only the beginning. In 6 months this number will double. From fresh produce to meat; cheese, fish, tea, coffee, bread - even crisps; the shoppers of Belsize Park now have the choice to reduce their plastic footprints. CEO Andrew Thornton is so inspired that he wants to eradicate 75% of the plastic in his extensive supermarket within 3 years.

This is a great example to all larger supermarkets! A living working lab openly trying new materials to package food and drink; open sourcing all solutions including the ones that don’t work. It is rare to work with such committed retail pioneers.
